Hopefully my first post here will find all of you in good spirit.
My name is Flavia Sunshine, I was born in Italy, but for the last ten years I have called Finland 'home'.
I traveled to the Great North for the first time nearly 20 years ago. I
fell in love with the slow paced life of the small country villages, the
wild nature, the demanding but surprising winter. The nightless nights
of the summer fueled my dreams of a life lived in full communion with
nature.
This blog will hopefully become the hub of my eclectic interests, you will find here glimpses of my life here in the great north, my illustrations, my books and the many crafts which fill my days.
You might like to know the story behind the name of this new little web-space of mine.
As a child, I used to go on holiday with my late mom in this small mountain town back in Italy.
When the night fell, the elders used to give a glass jar to the kids and
encourage them to catch fireflies to bring home to have nice dreams.
My mom always let me catch the fireflies, but the deal was I would put the open jar
on the windowsill, so the little ones could fly away.
My sweet dreams were assured as well as fireflies life.
Hopefully, through my humble doings, I'll bring some joy to all the dreamers who will arrive here and read my musings.
